Captain Peacock Appears in Outdoor Life Magazine
Outdoor LIfe Magazine ran an article in early March titled "Fish of the Amazon: 13 Species Caught in the Rio Negro" written by outdoor writer Gayne Young after fishing with Captain Peacock on the upper Rio Negro the second week of February, 2013. Gayne had a great time sampling the many species of fish, including several large Amazon catfish, in addition to 3 species of Peacock Bass. New 2013 Tracker Bass Boat Arrive in Manaus
Our new 175 TXR Tracker Bass Boats cleared customs in Manaus, Brazil today and should be integrated into Captain Peacock’s fishing operations by the end of next week. These 2013 model Trackers are 17’7” in length and over 80” wide at the beam equipped with 4 stroke Mercury outboards & heavy duty trolling motors. These fully carpeted aluminum hulled bass boats will give Captain Peacock the most modern and comfortable fishing platforms in the Amazon’s Peacock Bass fishing scene. Johnnie Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Marine, fished with us in February of 2012 and at that time suggest that his new 175 TXR Tracker bass boats would be a great fit with the upscale operations of Captain Peacock. Leonardo Leao, the President of Captain Peacock traveled to Springfield, MO in July to meet with Johnny Morris and a deal was struck which enabled us to partner with Tracker Marine to get the new Trackers to Brazil. They will be employed for the upcoming Amazon peacock bass fishing "season" starting in September 2012 and running through March of 2013. Season On the Edge” will be airing 2 episodes on NBC Sports Network (formally Versus cable channel) of Peacock Bass fishing with Captain Peacock Expeditions in June. The show’s host, professional fishing guide Ken Baldwin, and his film crew traveled to the upper Rio Negro to fish with Captain Peacock’s Director of Sales and Marketing Jim Kern in late November of 2011. The first episode will air Tuesday, June 12th at 1:30 pm EST and again Saturday, June 16h at 7:30 am EST. The second episode will air Tuesday, June 19th at 1:30 pm EST and Saturday, June 23rd at 7:30 EST. WFN (World Fishing Network) will be carrying Season on the Edge's Amazon episodes from July - December, 2012 as well. Record of 2010
World Record Peacock Bass 2010, Bill Gassmann Fishing with Captain Expeditions, caught a 28 lb Peacock Bass that established a new IGFA All Tacke World Record bradking hte long established world record of 27 lb caught by Doc Lawson in 1994.
